About SPART

Ski Patrol Rescue Team (SPART) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization made up of volunteers who share one common commitment: bringing people home safe. Our services are always free: no fees, no bills, no exceptions.

Our members are all part of the National Ski Patrol (NSP), and most actively serve as ski patrollers at resorts across King County. We don’t just train for emergencies, we respond to them every week on the hill.

When it comes to patient care, most of our team are certified EMTs or Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) Technicians with regular hands-on experience in pre-hospital and wilderness settings. In the field, that experience makes all the difference.

Avalanche safety and education are central to who we are. Our avalanche team is led by six American Avalanche Association (A3) Professional Members, with additional A3 Affiliate members rounding out one of the most capable avalanche programs in the region. Several of our members work alongside trained avalanche search dogs, combining cutting-edge canine capabilities with expert handler skills.

We also specialize in technical patient extrication in winter terrain, drawing on NSP Outdoor Emergency Transportation (OET) expertise and advanced rigging techniques to safely move patients out of even the most challenging environments.

SPART is built on experience, training, and a genuine love for the mountains and the communities that call them home.

The services of SPART are available year-round.
